What's the role of small states in climate change mitigation efforts, and how do we prioritize the unique challenges they face and learn from their innovative solutions using Costa Rica's leadership as an example? Join an intimate conversation with former President of Costa Rica Carlos Alvarado Quesada and Tufts Professor, Alnoor Ebrahim.   This event is co-hosted by Tisch College and The Fletcher School and is cosponsored by Environmental Studies and the Office of Sustainability.  ____ President Alvarado served as the 48th President of the Republic of Costa Rica from May 2018 to May 2022, when his constitutionally limited term ended. Hailed by Time Magazine in 2019 as one of the world's 100 emerging leaders, President Alvarado successfully stared down simultaneous health, economic, and political crises during his tenure. Costa Rica is a leader in greening its economy. Its work to protect and restore its diverse ecosystems while combating climate change have won international recognition. Under President Alvarado's leadership, Costa Rica contributed to global efforts to combat climate change and defended human rights, democracy, and multilateralism.   Alnoor Ebrahim is a Professor of Management at The Fletcher School and the Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University. His research addresses several core dilemmas of social change facing businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies. Professor Ebrahim teaches courses on leadership and strategy, and in executive programs at Fletcher, Harvard, and Georgetown.
