About
The Malden Warming Center (MWC) seeks to serve those experiencing homelessness by providing safe shelter and warmth during the harsh winter months, recognizing each person’s inherent dignity and unique circumstance. Though based in Malden, we serve the areas of Medford, Somerville, Saugus, Melrose, and beyond. Our season runs from December 1st through March 31st, and we are open seven nights a week, 7pm - 8am.
The MWC welcomes all, no questions asked. We provide a place of warmth, security, and comfort, along with a nutritious meal, to all walks of life. As much as possible warm clothing is available and our volunteer staff work tirelessly to connect individuals to additionally needed services, including more permanent housing, substance use treatment, and/or health/mental health services.
The MWC is entirely dependent on volunteers and donations. We always welcome new volunteers (AND new ideas!) - no experience or commitment necessary. Sign up as you go, shifts range from 1.5 to 6 hours in length, and new volunteers will always be paired with a more experienced volunteer to start out.
